Bleach, Melbourne, and School Holidays
i'm feeling: sleepy
listening to: relient k - the one i'm waiting for
Well, I think last Sunday night is going to be the highlight of the school holidays. Two friends and I went to see Memories of Nobody in a cinema in the city! It was heaps of fun. We walked almost all the way up Lygon St, which is basically the Italian and Greek precinct of Melbourne, and every time we walked past a restaurant (which was every few metres) we were invited to come in by people standing outside the door. I'd forgotten that they do that.
Anyway, we got there and grabbed some posters and settled down to watch. It was pretty hilarious because it was the English dub (I think it must have been the Australian release, or something. All the promos said something along the lines of 'The long awaited Bleach movie', and I was like, "What? We've had it for ages..."). Whenever Hitsugaya started speaking the girls in front of us would groan, "Oh, God," which was funny, because his voice is horrible. One of my friends, who had seen the first episode of Bleach and to whom I'd explained most of the series to (up to where the Vaizards come in. I skipped the Bounts. :P) on the train in the way in, forgot that Hitsugaya was only about fourteen because his voice makes him sound like an adult.
By the bye, I haven't been able to download Bleach in about three weeks because I used up too much of our downloads watching Code Geass during the day, lol, so we weren't allowed to download anything. I caught up tonight, and ugh. Another filler arc? I suppose it doesn't matter too much because I read the manga as well, so I know what happens for yonks, but still. I guess it'll enjoyable if it's funny. The last one was pretty amusing for a while there.
So, the next day I went to work, and found out that one of the girls I work with likes anime too. That was a bit exciting. I told her I'd gone to see a movie in a city, and she asked what it was. This is the point when I always start getting nervous, because if you tell someone you like anime, they generally think you're weird, and who enjoys being labelled as weird? Exactly. No one. So I said...
ME: Oh, you know, like, Japanese cartoons?
HER: Oh, like anime?
ME: Yeah! It was a movie of one of those.
HER: I love anime!
ME: Me too!
HER: Serves a customer.
ME: So, what ones do you like?
HER: Um, Death Note is one.
ME: Oh, yeah, Death Note's awesome.
HER: Yeah, do you read the books?
ME: Nah, I've only seen it. Did you know they're making a movie?
HER: Oh, yeah.
ME: With Zac Efron in it.
HER: Really? Who's he gonna be, Light?
ME: Yeah, Light. He looks pretty similar. He could be good.
HER: Yeah, but he has to be able to be crazy like Light.
ME: Laughs. Serves a customer.
ME: So, what else do you like?
HER: Oh, you know, those really crappy girly ones.
ME: Laughs. Oh, yeah?
HER: Yeah, Vampire Knight?
ME: Laughs again. Yup, yup. Vampire Knight's great.
Then another girl came on, so we didn't really talk about anime anymore, but it was fun. You can tell I'm excited by this. She was one person I'd never peg as an anime fan.
And Vampire Knight is great, shut up! I know Yuuki is about as Mary-Sue as you can get, but it makes for a good shojo, and while I love making fun of shojos while I watch them, I secretly really love them. Watching shojo is like watching chick flicks. Good for when you're feeling sick in any sense of the word.

Haha I like Vampire Knight okay.
It's good that you managed to get your friedns to go see the movie with you. None of my friends would be caught dead in public watching anime. They don't even like going to the manga section of the bookstores here.
Agreed though about Yuki's Mary-Sue-ness. I read it for Zero.
I, uh, still haven't started Bleach. There's just so much I'd have to get caught up on...
