Bleach, Melbourne, and School Holidays

July 1st, 2009 (11:20 pm)
sleepy

i'm feeling: sleepy
listening to: relient k - the one i'm waiting for

Well, I think last Sunday night is going to be the highlight of the school holidays. Two friends and I went to see Memories of Nobody in a cinema in the city! It was heaps of fun. We walked almost all the way up Lygon St, which is basically the Italian and Greek precinct of Melbourne, and every time we walked past a restaurant (which was every few metres) we were invited to come in by people standing outside the door. I'd forgotten that they do that.

Anyway, we got there and grabbed some posters and settled down to watch. It was pretty hilarious because it was the English dub (I think it must have been the Australian release, or something. All the promos said something along the lines of 'The long awaited Bleach movie', and I was like, "What? We've had it for ages..."). Whenever Hitsugaya started speaking the girls in front of us would groan, "Oh, God," which was funny, because his voice is horrible. One of my friends, who had seen the first episode of Bleach and to whom I'd explained most of the series to (up to where the Vaizards come in. I skipped the Bounts. :P) on the train in the way in, forgot that Hitsugaya was only about fourteen because his voice makes him sound like an adult.

Recent Bleach episodes. Nothing spoilery though. )

So, the next day I went to work, and found out that one of the girls I work with likes anime too. That was a bit exciting. I told her I'd gone to see a movie in a city, and she asked what it was. This is the point when I always start getting nervous, because if you tell someone you like anime, they generally think you're weird, and who enjoys being labelled as weird? Exactly. No one. So I said...

Cut for conversation that may ruin your friends pages. )

Then another girl came on, so we didn't really talk about anime anymore, but it was fun. You can tell I'm excited by this. She was one person I'd never peg as an anime fan.

And Vampire Knight is great, shut up! I know Yuuki is about as Mary-Sue as you can get, but it makes for a good shojo, and while I love making fun of shojos while I watch them, I secretly really love them. Watching shojo is like watching chick flicks. Good for when you're feeling sick in any sense of the word.

TV Shows

November 28th, 2008 (02:00 pm)
chipper

i'm feeling: chipper
listening to: black ghosts - full moon (yes, the twilight soundtrack, :P)

I just watched the first episode of The IT Crowd season three. It was pretty good. Not their best; I think that title still belongs to the shoes episode from season one, but quite good all up. I'm pumped for the rest of the season though! The American version failed abysmally, didn't it? Can't say I'm surprised.

Merlin's going to air on Australian TV! Channel 10, I'm pretty sure. Channel 10's also airing the American version of Life on Mars. I assume only because the British version did so well on the ABC, 10 thought they'd cash in on the American version. Still, Merlin! Yay! So many people talk about it, and I've been wanting to watch it for ages, but I can't find it anywhere.

Also, [info]purdypirate  got me into Vampire Knight. I haven't watched much yet, but it's looking wicked so far. Yuki's cute, and Zero's awesome. Kaname... I like him, but there's something that's a bit... off about him. Maybe it's him just being vampiry, but I'm not sure.

I think I might have to read Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, since that seems to be the birthplace of vamp fiction. Anyone read them?

ETA 2:22pm: Youtube went widescreen?!
